My Approach to Reiki

With a background in healthcare and an understanding of evidence-based wellness, I help individuals explore practical mind-body strategies to enhance resilience, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being. My approach integrates conventional stress management techniques with emerging research on the mind-body connection.

As a trained Reiki practitioner and educator, I focus on supporting the body's natural ability to self-regulate through gentle, non-invasive techniques that promote relaxation and nervous system balance. Using Reiki as a complement to holistic wellness, I provide grounded support and mindful presence, creating space for nervous system regulation and emotional clarity. While Reiki is still being explored in scientific research, many individuals report improved stress management and emotional clarity after sessions.

I understand the skepticism around energy-based modalities, and I believe in an approach that is grounded, transparent, and aligned with each person’s unique needs. I also offer a safe, supportive space to explore possibilities that may not exist within standard practice models. I understand the stigma often associated with exploring complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and aim to support all—including fellow practitioners and providers—who are curious about this work and wish to learn more about it without judgment.

How it started

There comes a moment when what used to work… no longer does.

You’re functioning—but just barely. You’re exhausted, overstimulated, or emotionally numb. Maybe you’ve been navigating deep fatigue, stress or a subtle yet profound shift you can’t fully name. You may even assume you just need more sleep, but you know there is more to it than that. You’ve sensed that it will take more for you to recover than what you’ve been offered—and you're ready to explore it. You just don’t want to lose your mind in the process.

I know what that feels like.

My name is Ayanna and I’ve spent almost 20 years in healthcare (just under 15 years in direct care), supporting people through their health victories and challenges. I loved the work - it felt like a calling. But over time, I began to feel the quiet limitations in the model—especially when it came to the body’s wisdom, the challenge in finding true wellness, and the deeper layers of self that don’t always show up on scans or charts.

Through my own experience with burnout, deep intuitive shifts and a newfound awareness, I began to appreciate a different kind of medicine—one that lives in the spaces between diagnosis and story. One that honors what we carry in the nervous system, in the subtle body and in the parts of ourselves we’ve never had words for.

I also support those standing at the edge of change—drawn inward, upward, or deeper into themselves. Many of the people I work with are highly intuitive (even if they don’t yet identify that way) or seeking a grounded, safe space to make sense of what they’re feeling and navigate the uncertainty of transformation.

This journey can be both profound and transformative. At times, it may involve questioning old beliefs and breaking free from limiting constructs. But this isn't about fixing you—it's about guiding you to reconnect with the wisdom and insight already within you.

If you're seeking something more, but aren’t sure where to start—this space was made for you.
